Anarchopride
31/7-3/8 Stockholm, Sweden
We want anarchists to gather during europride in Stockholm, Sweden. Camp with us, do discussions, workshops and actions. Join us in the parade and go to our party. We welcome everyone to anarchopride at Cyklopen and Kafé 44.
Anarchopride wants to be an alterntive to the commercial europride and the superficious gayculture. Norms about sexuality and gender is one of several structures in the society that opress people. We struggle not just against homophobia or heterosexism, we struggle against all opressions and against capitalism and the state. We believe that the arranging of people in small heterosexual familys helps the state to maintain control.
During anarchopride we will discuss and act. We will fill these days with a lot of inspiration and DIY-culture.
No one is free until we’re all free! Smash capitalism! Reclaim pride!
CAMP 31/7-3/8 at Cyklopen. You can stay with us for free in the house of culture, Cyklopen, in a suburb of Stockholm.

Finally a group in Sweden is visibly and openly addressing the
biggest farce of all: Europride, Pride, whatever, for years I have heard lesbians complain about this event, from the expensive “dogtags”, to the straight entertainment at the Pride tent, an arena closed to the non paying low income gay lesbian transgender community, walled in by a cyclone fence, Reinfeldt speaking at PRIDE, overconsumption of alcohol, oversexualization and commodification of gays, lesbians, and transgenders resulting in sex and love addiction. This includes the registration of partnerships in Sweden, another commodity reduced to a piece of paper to better organize and depoliticize gays and lesbians. Its happening everywhere, the right to love, the right to marry , the right to fall in line with the compartmentalization and commodification of love. IKEA wins big, bolån, fack, everyone as we organize into manageable safe sex units. Bravo.
Gay Shame a Radical Queer Alternative
Gay Pride has not always been such a spectacle of consumption; it’s roots lie in the famous and everyday acts of queer resistance to police brutality (Stonewall Riots, Compton Cafeteria Riots, etc). Furthermore, since the beginning of corporate-sponsored “pride,” queers have resisted by various means, from physically attacking the organizers, to blocking elected officials from marching, to breaking into the march with anti-consumerist messages. The first Gay Shame event took place in 1998 in New York, organized by a collective of queers who challenged the limiting agenda of of a gay movement that refuses to address racism, misogyny, heterosexism, and classism as an intrinsic part of organizing.
